WINCHESTER — Grafton School Inc. has merged with another behavioral health group in Virginia.<\/p>\n
The boards for Grafton and Leesburg-based Graydon Manor on Oct. 27 approved terms of a consolidation plan.<\/p>\n
Work on the merger began in the summer, according to a news release from Graydon. Grafton provides services to children and adults with disabilities.<\/p>\n
Grafton also provides services to their families and professionals who support them.<\/p>\n
Graydon treats people in all age groups who have serious psychiatric and emotional problems, as well as co-occurring learning disabilities or substance abuse issues, the release states.<\/p>\n
Both entities are nonprofit, charitable organizations.<\/p>\n
The consolidation lets Grafton broaden its services to help more people, according to President and Chief Executive Officer James “Jim” Gaynor II.<\/p>\n
The organizations can pool resources and expand in key service areas, Gaynor states in the release.<\/p>\n
Officials expect the merger to take effect by early 2011, according to the release. Under the consolidation, Gaynor retains leadership of the combined organization and will direct managerial and executive decision-making in coordination with Graydon executives, including Executive Director Eileen Roehr, the release states.<\/p>\n
Roehr will continue to play a leadership role, according to the release.<\/p>\n
