Sharon Hart, District Governor provided the welcome and opening remarks and Wayne Madden, past International Director for the Lions Club facilitated the initiation ceremony at the Blue Ridge Fire Hall in Bluemont, Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>Grafton clients were recognized for giving back to their local community by sponsoring two families in Clarke County for Thanksgiving as well as their charitable contributions to the needy and the elderly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>I could not be prouder of our young community leaders for their dedication and commitment to giving back to their community. It was very satisfying to be part of their induction ceremony and celebration last week<\/em>\u201d, said Tony Sanders, Director of Operations.<\/p>\n<p>Leo clubs provide youth volunteer opportunities and place to grow, learn and have fun. The Grafton Leo club meets on the second Wednesday of each month and the club has had two official meetings to date. Prior to becoming official members of the Leo Club, clients volunteered at the food pantry located at the Stephens City United Methodist Church. A number of exciting activities are planned for the near future including the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Lions district fall conference in Stanton, Virginia on November 3rd<br \/>\n\u2022 Food drive to benefit two local families during Thanksgiving<br \/>\n\u2022 Ringing the bell for the Salvation Army during the holiday season<br \/>\n\u2022 Berryville Christmas Parade<br \/>\n\u2022 Adopt a Senior Citizen at a local nursing home<br \/>\n\u2022 Participation in the \u201cAdopt a U.S. Soldier Program\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Leo clubs are sponsored by local Lions clubs through Lion Clubs International, the world\u2019s largest community service organization, with 1.3 million members across the globe. The first Leo club was started in 1957 and today, there are more than 5,700 clubs in approximately 140 countries. The objective of the Leo Club Program is &#8220;\u2026to provide the youth of the world with an opportunity for development and contribution, individually and collectively, as responsible members of the local, national and international community. &#8221;<\/p>\n<p>About Grafton Integrated Health Network<br \/>\nGrafton Integrated Health Network (GIHN) is a private, nonprofit organization that has served children, adolescents and adults with disabilities and significant emotional and\/or behavioral challenges for more than 50 years.
